It is astounding how many opportunities there are for hiking essentially in or on the edge of the city. With so much rain and a full work schedule for us both, we did our best to get out there on dry weekends and afternoons. What a pleasure it was to also get to hike with the dog we were watching. So many memories of our own Mia came flooding back. Typically, Trev is in front, I’m at the back (slower and stopping to take photos) and the pup goes back and forth between. We were able to do several hikes on the Animas Mountain trail which affords great views where we also met such nice, nice people. We also hiked Junction Creek up to Gudy’s Rest, Horse Gulch (where there are lots of bikes but it was ok), and the Rim Trail around Ft. Lewis College (because we were curious).
We logged a LOT of steps, so much so I had to include one photo of my day’s efforts per my watch. Trev took a photo of a cut tree and we asked AI how old the tree was. The result – around 150-200 years old. For me, this is one “AI for good” use I can get behind. There were so many more trails to try which is a great reason to make it back there. Here are some highlights.
