This morning, I had the chance to visit the iconic Bolhão Market, a place I’ve been wanting to visit . Unfortunately, I didn’t snap any photos this time, but I did manage to pick up some beautiful black-skinned tomatoes, a bunch of fresh greens, and a sweet melon that brought back memories from two years ago when I first discovered it in Valencia.
For lunch, Gail and I headed over to Tasquinha Zé Povinho, a cozy spot known for its classic Portuguese dishes. I went for a traditional plate of grilled fish served with boiled potatoes and cabbage. Gail opted for a fresh salad and a chicken sandwich. I wish I had pictures, but the place filled up quickly, and honestly, I just wasn’t in the mood to fuss with my phone. Sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy the meal without distraction.
Later in the afternoon, I carved out an hour for a solo walk to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal. The gardens were in full bloom, and the view over the Douro River was breathtaking. The weather was sunny, warm, and just breezy enough to keep it comfortable. I followed the river for a while and then headed home.
